Engineering Manager

We’re seeking an experienced Engineering Manager with a strong people focus to join our team. The ideal candidate will be an exceptional communicator that leads from the front and isn’t afraid to get their hands dirty in solving problems. This role requires a unique combination of technical expertise and excellent leadership skills. The Engineering Manager will be responsible for mentoring and guiding our engineering team, ensuring we maintain a collaborative and efficient work environment that embodies our core values. In an effort to foster a collaborative and engaging hybrid work environment, this role requires working from our Bangalore office 2-3 times a week

What You’ll Do:

• Ensure that the engineering team consistently delivers high-quality software at a rapid pace, with a focus on shipping fast and minimizing technical debt

• Lead and manage a team of software engineers, providing mentorship, guidance, and support in their professional development

• Conduct one-on-one’s with direct reports to track progress, discuss concerns, and provide constructive feedback.

• Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure alignment of goals and priorities,

• Contribute to our hiring and professional development practices to attract, hire and retain top engineering talent.

• Uphold our culture of continuous feedback, high performance, efficiency and product excellence

• Engage in company-building activities, by fostering a collaborative work environment and challenging the status-quo

• Act as a technical expert in Python, PostgreSQL, React, and modern SPA stacks, providing guidance and support for engineering projects as needed.

• Leverage prior startup experience to contribute to the strategic direction and growth of the company while promoting our core values

We’re Looking for Someone With:

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on Python, PostgreSQL, React, and modern SPA stacks

• 2+ years of experience in managing engineering teams that have built and shipped products at scale

• Ability to work in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment with the sense of curiosity to learn our domain at a deep level

• Prior experience working in a remote startup environment, with a track record of delivering high-quality software with frequent releases (2-3 / month)

• Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with a strong ability to motivate and inspire team members

• Experience in successfully developing engineering careers, delivering constructive feedback at frequent intervals and owning the performance evaluation process

• Experience in hiring and onboarding engineering talent, with a keen eye for identifying top talent.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Strong organizational and process management skills, with a commitment to continuous improvement and being the best at their craft

Nice to Haves:

• Prior experience with ERP, Accounting or Supply Chain SaaS (e.g. Netsuite, SAP, etc)

• Prior experience with eCommerce SaaS or Marketplaces (e.g. Shopify, Magento, Amazon)

• Any direct customer-facing experience in a B2B SaaS environment
